Candles, vases, and other decor items let you give your home a seasonal facelift quickly and inexpensively. Located in the heart of Amish country, R Classic Elements makes it easy by changing their own inventory to correspond with the seasons. In 2010, owner Renee Miller decided to expand the shop's offering by making hand-poured soy candles in her home. Production eventually moved to the shop, and the line was named Shanesville Candles. The jar candles, which come in 8-ounce and 12-ounce sizes,  feature homey scents such as Lush Linen, Zucchini Bread, and Mint Tea. Store hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. every day but Sunday.

Sweet Dish & Darling

1345 W. 78th St., #2048, Cleveland, OH 44102

In 2009, recent college graduate Sarah Sampsell went to work in her sister's eco-friendly skincare salon. When they couldn't find just the right candles to carry in the salon, Sarah decided to make them herself, and Sweet Dish & Darling was born. The quirky name refers to the original candles, which included a recipe for a "sweet dish." While the recipes are gone, the candles and their trademark burlap packages are still handmade. Candle styles include screw-top jars, enamelware mugs and tumblers, and travel tins. Try the best-selling Sea Salt & Amber or one of the other appealing scents such as Sunday Brunch, with notes of cinnamon, French toast, vanilla bean, and maple syrup. Order online for delivery (free shipping on orders of $75 or more) or select local pickup at their Cleveland workshop.

Wildcrafted Aromatics has a goal to ensure all its products as eco-friendly as possible, even after they've been used. Candles are made with eco-soy and beeswax, eco-cotton, hemp wicks, and natural herbal dyes. Many come in reusable jars, tins, and upcycled glasses that may be reused after the candle has burned. Products come with minimal packaging that is 100-percent recyclable. One of their more popular products is the citronella lavender ceramic lamp, handcrafted from Lake Erie clay. Wildcrafted Aromatics is one of the vendors on display at The RIFT, a Cleveland shop showcasing local craftspeople selling homemade and repurposed items. "RIFT" stands for "Repurposed and Intended for Today." Hours are 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily except Sunday, when closing time is 5 p.m.

Cleveland Coconut Candles

Cleveland is not generally considered a tropical location, but thanks to Tim & Laura Thornton, you can "bring home the beach." Inspired by sights on a trip to the Panama Canal, the couple came up with the concept for Cleveland Coconut Candles. Their signature product is candles poured into half or whole coconut shells sourced from a supplier in Florida. A wide ribbon-style wick creates a tiki-torch effect as the candle burns. The tropical theme is enhanced with scents such as Jamaica Me Crazy, a blend of pineapple, orange, honeydew melon, coconut, jasmine, rum, and vanilla. Many scents are also available as classic jar candles. Order on the website or follow them on Facebook for information about appearances at festivals and other local events.

Donut Shops - Cleveland, OH - Cutler Real Estate

Who came up with the idea of improving on perfection by adding filling to an already delicious donut? According to Smithsonian Magazine, this classic pastry was created in the mid-19th century by Elizabeth Gregory, mother of a New England ship captain. While preparing donuts for her son's crew, Mrs. Gregory cleverly added hazelnuts and walnuts in the center where the dough might not cook through.

As you celebrate Cream-Filled Donut Day on Monday, September 14, give a silent thanks to Elizabeth Gregory for her creativity. Get them individually or by the dozen at these favorite donut shops around Cleveland

The Vegan Doughnut Company

While vegetarian and vegan diets have become increasingly popular, sisters Kharisma and Kyra Mayo realized there were few local options for vegan donuts. That changed when they opened The Vegan Doughnut Company, which began in their home and moved to a storefront in 2018. Even if you're not vegan, with mouthwatering flavors such as Cookie Butter, Lemon Lavender, and Maple Cream,  you'll never miss the dairy and eggs. The Vegan Doughnut Company is open weekends until supplies are gone. Watch their Facebook page for updates.

Beer and donuts is the pairing you didn't know you needed in your life. Shelley and John Pippin, founders of Brewnuts, created a unique mash-up of a corner donut shop and neighborhood bar. Home experimentation with a countertop fryer led to craft beer-based donuts in flavors such as Maple Bacon, Strawberry Pop-Tart, and Blueberry Almond Crunch. Planning a gender reveal or other special announcement? Say it with Brewnuts' letter-shaped donuts. The Pippins collaborate with top local brewers for the beer featured in their donuts and on the menu. Coffee, tea, and other traditional breakfast drinks are also available. Brewnuts is closed Monday and Tuesday and open every other day until they run out.

Sweet meets savory to create the light, fluffy tenderness of Spudnut Donuts. Choice Idaho potatoes are the not-so-secret ingredient that gives the donuts their specific characteristics. Donuts are available as airy "spudnuts" or "spuddie" frycakes, along with apple fritters and French crullers. Visit the convenient take-out window from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily.

Donut Land

No, you're not dreaming. There really is a Donut Land in Cleveland, and it's just as magical as you'd expect. 2020 marks the 46th anniversary for owner Bill Rienerth and his homestyle donuts that are still made using original recipes. One happy change has occurred in that time, as Bill's son and great-granddaughter have joined him in the business. The staff works overnight to ensure the regular, filled, and "fancy" donuts filling the display case are as fresh as possible. Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events with a custom-made donut cake featuring your choice of filling, frosting, and written message. The best part of all? Once you try one of baker Courtney Bonning's plump creations, you'll understand why the shop is named Bigmouth Donuts. Courtney worked for months to perfect her proprietary dough recipe that results in a brioche-like texture. In addition to the regular lineup of raised donuts and frycakes, Bigmouth features a filled donut of the week. One recent flavor was a hugely popular guava-filled malasada, which is a traditional Portuguese fried donut. The menu includes gluten-free and vegan options, along with a donut egg sandwich for heartier appetites. When you're in Rocky River, check out Bigmouth's newest location. Both shops are open every day but Monday.

Becker's Donuts & Bakery

While Becker's Donuts & Bakery produces a stellar assortment of cakes, cookies, and pastries, there's a reason why donuts get star billing. For years, families in Cleveland have gone to Becker's for their delicacies with a pleasantly crisp exterior and soft, pillowy interior. Satisfied customers rave about the strawberry jelly-filled, cinnamon roll, and glazed donuts in particular. Pair your selection with a cup of Becker's blend coffee, which also comes in different flavors. Becker's is open Tuesday through Sunday.

Raised and Glazed Donuts rhymes nicely, but it doesn't cover the full range of pastries and baked goods you'll find inside. In fact, the variety is so enticing that customers often find themselves buying a dozen because they can't decide on just one. Watch for the hot dog-shaped donuts and other whimsical shapes that sometimes turn up in the display case. Raised and Glazed Donuts is open mornings every day but Monday.

George's Donuts

1023 N. Aurora Rd. Unit B, Aurora, OH 44202

When it comes to filled donuts, nothing approaches the genius of the Orange Creamsicle from George's Donuts. Orange-infused cake batter is fried and stuffed with homemade vanilla buttercream for a taste that takes you back to childhood. George's is also known for its signature cannoli donuts with traditional Italian cream filling in the center, finished with a dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.  Donuts are baked fresh daily at the original location in Twinsburg. Both shops are open Tuesday through Saturday until noon.

A fourth-generation farm that's been restored and preserved, Jacobs Heritage Farm includes a honey bee preserve. If their name sounds familiar, it's likely because you've seen their honey for sale at markets and stores throughout the area such as Target. A stop at Jacobs Heritage Farm is a must as they have much more than just their raw honey. You can also pick up meat and eggs from their livestock as well as firewood, antiques, plants, natural soaps, and plenty of other locally produced goods.

Heavenly Hill Farm

18375 State Road, North Royalton, OH 44133

Heavenly Hill Farm is well…heavenly! From apple picking and hayrides to pumpkin patch playing, cider tasting, and market strolling, it's easy to spend hours of your weekend at Heavenly Hill Farm with your family. You probably already know Arrowhead Orchard as the home of the crispy and juicy apples Paris residents love, but you should know that their farm produces much more than a single fruit. Along with apples, you'll find delicious raw honey, ciders, homemade goods, sunflowers, vegetables, and other fruits throughout the property. Best of all, in the fall parents can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the market while their children have fun in the corn maze, on a hayride, or engaging in other fun activities.

Sheffield Farms

5100 Richelieu Ave., Sheffield Lake, OH 44054

Sheffield Farms believes that when it comes to knowing exactly what goes into your honey, too many big-name producers say "it's none of your beeswax." The local producers at Sheffield Farms insist that their customers understand what's in – and what's left out of – their honey. Their honeybees are housed according to organic practices and every batch of honey is free of additives, miticides, antibiotics, chemicals, and pasteurization. No matter if you're picking up raw honey, comb honey, propolis, or other beeswax products, you can confidently purchase knowing that their products are as natural as it gets.

Wade's Fruit Farm

12915 Warren Rd., Paris, OH 44669

Local Honey - NE Ohio - Cutler Real Estate

Wade's Fruit Farm is a pick-your-own farm located in Paris. While they are open throughout the year, their operating hours will vary depending on season and harvest. Blueberries and black raspberries are among their most popular fruit and vegetable offerings but you can usually find their fresh honey, cider, and eggs all year long. We especially love Wade's Fruit Farm because they offer their own unique blueberry honey made from the bees and blueberries that call their farm home. Imagine making blueberry pancakes, blueberry waffles, or blueberry French toast and topping it with delicious blueberry honey.

Kall Christmas Tree Farm

3605 Foskett Rd., Medina, OH 44256

If you've only visited Kall Christmas Tree Farm during the holiday season, then you've been missing out on their year-round supply of honey, beeswax candles, snacks, and other products available in their gift shop. Raw honey, strained honey, wildflower honey, and beeswax candles are just a few things you'll find around their farm, which includes a refreshment stand and cuddly farm animals. While you can stop by throughout the year, Kall Christmas Tree Farm encourages you to call ahead outside of the Christmas tree season so they can ensure that they'll be able to provide you with the specific honey you want.

Their goal is to deliver farmers market quality at prices that allow all residents of Valley City to enjoy a fresh farm to table experience at home. All honey is produced from hives on the farm and all of their animals are raised cage-free with ethical standards and are not fed hormones or antibiotics. A great family farm that's been a staple of Valley City for a century, Plum Creek Farm is one of the best places to sample the freshest foods from Northeast Ohio.

Hamey's Apiary Hives & Honey

6894 Smith Rd., Medina, OH 44256

Beer Lover Destinations - Northeast Ohio - Cutler Real Estate

Evidence shows beer dates back to prehistoric times. While America has embraced this popular beverage since colonial days, beer has come a long way since then, and Cleveland is regularly named on lists of the country's top cities for brew.

While Fat Head's was founded in Pittsburgh, its flagship location is now in Middleburg Heights, where they opened a full-scale production brewery in 2012. The Cleveland area was so welcoming and supportive that Fat Head's added a beer hall and restaurant six years later. A menu of upscale bar food favorites such as Wagyu beef chili dogs goes well with dozens of Fat Head's craft beers on tap. Patio seating is available for those beautiful summer days in Northeast Ohio.

HiHO Brewing Co.

1707 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221

After learning the brewing business in Denver, one of the hubs of the craft beer explosion, Ali and Jon Hovan returned to their home town to open HiHO Brewing Co. The brand name is a tip of the hat to the mountain region where the idea was born, along with a shout-out to Ohio pride. The taproom features 11 HiHO beers on tap as well as a menu of pizza, charcuterie, and snacks. Place your order at the bar and seat yourself inside or on the pet-friendly patio.

When you visit Brick and Barrel Brewing, don't be surprised if you find yourself chatting with owner Karl Spiesman. After several years serving in the Coast Guard, Karl decided to pursue his passion for good beer and wine by opening the type of brewpub where he would want to hang out. Karl's sense of humor shows in draft names such as Billy Kristalweizen and Rally Possum. Raise a glass while watching the Indians or Browns, or bring Fido and sit outside at one of the shaded picnic tables.

Market Garden Brewery

The Cleveland Brewery

777 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119

The idea began in Munich, but The Cleveland Brewery itself embodies the heart and soul of Northeast Ohio. Owners John and Mary pay tribute to Cleveland's history with brews such as Browns Town, Muellerfest, and 185th St. Wheat. In another nice touch, tap handles are shaped like the iconic Terminal Tower. Brews rotate, so check the Facebook page to see what's current.

If you like your brew with a view, check out Terrestrial Brewing Co. and their pub overlooking Lake Erie. Terrestrial's infusion tower adds notes of peach, jalapeno, grapefruit, and other fresh fruits to their beers. Authentic tacos and burritos from La Plaza make a great accompaniment to any brew. The outdoor patio features an adjacent off-leash play area, so bring your four-legged friend along, and you may find his picture posted as one of the "Dogs of Terrestrial."

Hansa Brewery

2717 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113

Northeast Ohio was shaped in large part by European immigrants, and Hansa Brewery honors their influence with authentic food and drink. For more than 40 years, Hansa Import House sold an extensive variety of imported meats, cheeses, and beers. In 2013, work began on Boris Music's dream project of upgrading the shop while adding a brewery and restaurant. A visit to Hansa might include a pint of whimsically named Bye Felicia! with potato pancakes and Wiener Schnitzel.

Who is Bad Tom Smith, and why is a brewery named after him? His story of redemption resonated with owners Sheryl and John Vojtush and their head brewer, Sean Smith, a distant relative of the outlaw. Bad Tom's name also adorns the brewery's barrel-strength bourbon. The taproom serves a light menu of snacks, salads, and pizzas.

Goldhorn Brewery

1361 E. 55th St., Cleveland, OH 44103

Goldhorn Brewery, named for a mountain goat in Slovenian folklore, imbues that same love of tradition in everything they do. Rustic decor, long dining tables, and a cozy lounge area create a warm sense of community. The city's roots inspire beer names such as Polka City Pilsner and Kleveland Kölsch. Be sure to try their signature chicken sandwich, smothered in their namesake hot sauce.
